You know what Mexico City does extraordinarily well? Egg dishes. I have never had the humble egg (which, is my favourite ingredient in the world) cooked so well as I have in cdmx. You know what else they do exceptionally? Pastries. And not just pan dulce, like concha, (which, of course, is divine), but also french patisserie.
In general ,the cafe scene is Mexico City is the best we have encountered yet. Delicious breakfasts (both traditional and not) were a daily occurrence, we were spoiled by the amount of perfect flat whites, and the cafe’s themselves were stunning and homey in a way that made us want to spend whole lazy afternoons in them.
The food in cdmx is exceptional. The topic of cafe’s seems a little…. boring. But after being there for two weeks, the simple activity of hunkering down at a good cafe (sometimes multiple times a day) was one of our favourite things to do, and where I had some of the best bites of the trip.
